Bioreactor is a device or system meant to grow cells and tissues in the context of cell culture. This conversion involves enzymes, micro-organisms, and cells. The term bioreactor is often used synonymously with “fermenter”. On the basis of mode of operation, a bioreactor/fermenter may be classified as batch, fed batch or continuous reactor model.
Batch type bioreactor is non-stationary reactor.

Continuous type bioreactor is a perpetual feeding process. In this system, media is continuously fed into the bioreactor and this is the way continuous bioreactor maintains the state.
Fed-Batch type bioreactor is fed continuously (or intermittently). The purpose of this is to maintain low substrate concentration inside.
